Going in to 2019, I set seven achievable goals for myself. Some of them were fairly easy and purely for my enjoyment (like reading), but some of them were stretch, like running over 600 miles. Although I almost always keep these goals in mind when planning my weekly calendar, July is the month when I sit down to assess how I’ve done so far, and what might need to be adjusted going forward. I’m quite pleased at my progress to this point:
GOAL A: Read 56 books. PROGRESS: 38
GOAL B: Run 600+ miles. PROGRESS: 526
GOAL C: Volunteer 250 hours. PROGRESS: 117 (85 Franklin Senior Center + 32 Meals On Wheels). Even though I’m just under half way to my goal, I’m confident I’ll get to 250 because we don’t travel as much summer and fall as we do winter and spring.
GOAL D: Complete the “Writing Great Fiction” course. PROGRESS: I have become obsessed with quilting, which means I don’t want to do anything else. Therefore, I exchanged this goal for making quilts for family and friends. I’ve made twelve quilts so far, plus a few pillows, a satchel, and two fidget blankets. I have the fabric and pattern for three more quilts, two of which will be raffled off for charity.
GOAL E: Write one blog post per month. PROGRESS: I didn’t write anything in May or June, but I’ve written 14 posts all-together (including this one).
GOAL F: One date per month with Lou where I dress up and wear red lipstick. PROGRESS: There were some months that we went out more than once, but I didn’t always wear red lipstick. Sometimes it was mauve or pink.
GOAL G: Walk 1.2 million steps. PROGRESS: Originally I had targeted 3.1, but when I reviewed my steps in previous years I realized my best year was just over 1.2mm, so I adjusted the goal to match my best. I’m at 603,475 so far.
