Lou and Jess fetched the rental car and made a trip to the Harley store while Kendra and Ginger went back to La Cathedral appropriately attired. There was a priest taking confessions but Kendra didn’t want to do it. She was afraid she’d get kicked out. I was tempted to donate to the stone work restoration until I remembered the opulence in which lived the Pope and his minions in Vatican City. As the rest of the world must do, they should learn to budget rather than make the rest of us kick up our donations to support their rich and leisurely lifestyle. This Cathedral had their own geese, complete with clipped wings so they can’t fly away. Sad. Something else they offer here are electric candles instead of real flames. You insert a coin and one of the candles lights up like magic. There was no fee to enter the church, but if you wanted to take the elevator to the roof it was EU2.5 each. Kendra made me once again test the boundaries of my fear of heights. We had a little time to kill after the church tour, and I had to go to the bathroom. The one offered in the church was barely functional with no toilet paper, so we paid EU12 to visit the museum next door which was offering an exhibit of Gaudi and Colbert. It also had a functional toilet complete with toilet paper, hand soap and paper towels. Not much later we joined Lou and Jess and made our way out of town and toward France. The drive was long, frustrating and sometimes frightening, especially towards the end. It was very similar to a ride you’d find at an amusement park, but without a fun part. We learned when we checked in that everything would be closed the next day so we had to go back out for groceries, taking an even more treacherous road than the one we came in on. It was a beautiful route. but don’t take your eyes off the road for a single second or …! By the time we returned with groceries and cooked dinner it was too late to do much exploration so we just walked down to the botanical garden and took a short walk along the rocky beach. There are mosquitoes here, so we didn’t last long. The girls begged us a day to sleep in and since we were tired from the long drive and late dinner we said they could sleep in the next day.
