Barcelona Day One – 6/23

It was very quiet when we arrived. The airport was practically deserted and we breezed through baggage claim and security. The shuttle smoothly transported us to the Ren and we were comfortably checked into our room and settled into the Elite Lounge to discuss our plans for the day within 1.5 hours of landing. It was about this time that Jess discovered she left her iPod in the plane. For reals this time. We decided to lay out by the pool for a few hours before napping, showering up and catching the shuttle into town for the evening. And nap we did; for almost three hours. While taking our first shower of the trip we discovered the shower leaks … profusely. Tapas and cocktails in the Elite Club were absolutely necessary before hitting the town.  We started out at Las Ramblas (“the blvd”), known for it’s shops, street vendors and performers, restaurants, and pickpockets.  Three hours and Kendra participating in a magic show later we were starving so stopped in at an all you can eat tapas bar: El Choquito (NOT recommended). Our long day ended at midnight, and everyone was anxious to hit the comfy sack.
