Acts of Kindness

As I was leaving the grocery store this morning I observed a young mother struggling with her baby and stroller at her car in the parking lot. When she lifted her baby out of the car seat to put her into the stroller I couldn’t help notice that the baby was wearing a specially designed helmet to protect her head. I thought to myself that it must be hard to manage an injured baby while shopping, so I offered to help her by pushing a cart while she pushed her baby and shopped. She started to cry at my offer, but declined saying how kind I was and that she only needed a few things that would fit into the bottom of the stroller. What I find sad is that an offer of help from a total stranger should come as an unexpected surprise.
