All the stuff in my head

Write

After starting my new blog and writing the very first post yesterday, I was up most of the night thinking about what I was going to write next. I wrote entire posts in my head that I was excited to get out the next morning. I probably should have gotten up and written them down so I could sleep more soundly. More importantly, I should have written them down before I forgot every thing I wanted to say in the order in which I wanted to say it. I do remember thinking to myself that I wanted to start writing every day, and if I couldn’t think of what to write I would use a prompt. One of my strategies in the past was to write only when I felt I had something to write. Now I realize its just as important to exercise the writing muscle as it is to exercise all the rest of your muscles. It makes a whole lot of sense to me. If I want to be a good runner, then I need to run whether I feel like it or not so that come race day I’m ready for the distance I’ve trained to run. If I want to write a novel, I need to write down words whether inspiration has hit that day or not. Eventually I’ll be able to string all of the inspired and prompted writings together and come up with a finished product. This and the posts for my travel blog are my exercises for today. I’m thinking of writing a post for my Memories category tomorrow.
