Our final night in Delhi was spent at an Indian cuisine restaurant called Bukhara at the ITC Hotel. We were presented with a bib after we were seated because the food is meant to be eaten with fingers. Fortunately they made an exception for the lentil dish, which was stew-like.
The complimentary appetizer was a big dish of red onions with a mix of spices. We don’t normally eat onions, but when in Rome and all that. We did limit our sampling to just a few. They were very good.
We don’t like to waste food, but the portions were generous and we are leaving tomorrow so we didn’t have a choice in this case.
They gave us a dish of hot lemon water to wash our hands in after we were finished eating.
The digestive wasn’t a simple mint. It was a blend of anise, coconut and sugar crystals.
We raved over and over again about how much we loved the dal burkhara that they gave us a complimentary sample to take home and try out in our own kitchen. We’re sure it won’t come close to tasting the same, but we’ll give it our best shot.
After dinner we wanted to use the restroom before walking back to our hotel. When I walked into the ladies’ room I saw two young ladies practicing a dance for a pre-wedding party they were attending that evening.
