What goes up must come down, and beginnings must end. It took us 7 days to cover 3,276 miles and 13 states, but we finally made it to Sacramento. From Carson City we took US50 to Lake Tahoe then drove to Emerald Bay and back down to US50 for the final descent into Sacramento. Lake Tahoe and vicinity is now on my sweaty RV adventures bucket list which I’m beginning to assemble for Lou’s retirement. It was absolutely stunning. It was also scary. There are parts of the road around Lake Tahoe that don’t have side rails. Its a sheer drop. When I think of the triathletes who compete in the Ironman there, I am awed and impressed at the strength and stamina they must build to undertake such a challenging route. I’m not so vain to think I could ever accomplish that feat. I’ll stick to the flatlands and gentle rolling hills.
When we arrived at our hotel it was still fairly early so Kendra and I walked to a sushi restaurant nearby and had a late lunch at Arigato Sushi. We then did laundry, went grocery shopping and stopped in at a furniture store which was having a “close out” sale. We’re now officially pooped. Lou arrived just in time. We’re going to walk back over to Arigato Sushi so he can grab a bite to eat then get to bed early so we’re ready for more adventures tomorrow.
