Not knowing what to expect in terms of difficulty, we had planned a 9-12 mile mountain bike ride round Eagle Lake on the east side of Acadia. We were having so much fun that by the time we wrapped up our route we had completed 19 of them instead. The carriage roads were delightful to ride on after some of the roads I normally ride and the tricky single-track trails Lou is used to riding. Since the trails we selected were rated “strenuous” we didn’t run into too many other people, but the ones rated “easy / family” were populated by the casual vacation riders. The rest of the day was pretty chill. Even Phila got into the mood by ignoring a firefly that was trying to catch her attention.
