We arrived at the campground in our new RV yesterday afternoon and were settled in after only 30 minutes of prep work. I have a feeling we’re going to do this A LOT. The dogs certainly hope so. They’re really grooving on their own personal “cave,” which is really just the bottom bunk covered with an old sheet.
This morning I spoke with my coach for the last time until post-race. Yesterday I felt restless; like I was bouncing off the walls. She says this is normal and good. It means I’m ready. Today and tomorrow I will be focusing on fueling and hydrating my body. Lots of water, lots of carbs, and lots of electrolyte loading. At around 11:30 or so we’re going to take a little trip to town for some last minute supplies then drive the bike and run course so that I can take notes and plan how I will approach physically and mentally any challenge areas. I told Kam that I thought my biggest challenge would be to not immediately sign up for next year’s race. Lou promised he would help with that impulse. While I will be high on the experience and endorphins, he will have spent the last six hours waiting for me to finish so we can put the season behind us.
