New Orleans Trip Report – Day 2

Lou decided we should begin our day with exercise, but he didn’t want to do it indoors. He fond a nice running track, but it was five miles from the hotel. After discussing whether we should take a taxi or the trolley, we decided we’d walk to the track and take public transport back if we were too tired after the run. We ended up walking both ways. We ran a total of three miles and walked nine. We walked through the Arts/Warehouse District and the Garden District (gorgeous homes … didn’t see enough). On the return trip we stopped for lunch at Miyako and tried the most delicious tempura either of us had ever had: a stuffed avocado. I’d like to try that again as soon as possible.

This was the evening we decided to dress up and act like kids. We ended up dancing at a popular place with live music where we made friends with a shot girl and then ventured across the street to enjoy some old style Jazz. We bought one of their CD’s and listened to it on our Harley ride through the Bayou the next day. On the way back to our hotel we stopped at Daisy Dukes for a midnight snack of fried green tomatoes and chicken wings. It was not our last trip to Daisy Dukes.
