Another parent resting in peace

We return home today, having done what we came to do, which was to help Granny pass peacefully from this world to the next. She quietly left us on Thursday morning. We will miss her big, beautiful smile and her comforting hugs. She was a woman of many interests, from collecting used baby dolls and hand stitching new clothes for them to give to shelters at Christmas, to digging for minerals and fossils. She also worked for many years on tracking down her and Pop’s genealogies, in her case all the way back to early 1600. Most of all, she was a dedicated mother and wife. She put her career on hold to raise her boys and support her husband while he was working and going to school to finish his Ph.D. She didn’t return to work as a chemist until her youngest boy was in middle school. My sister in law and I thanked her often for giving us the gift of husbands who were raised to love, cherish, and respect their wives. She and my father in law were shining examples of what a loving marriage should be. They had been married for over 60 years when Granny passed this week. The memorial service will be held in White Rock, NM, in January.47238426_10218112886597442_1909080372860157952_n
