Night Claps

Its become my habit to troll Pinterest for writing inspiration and prompts. If I see something that sparks a thought or provides motivation for days when nothing seems to flow, I pin it to a folder I named “Writing InspirPrompt.” Some time ago I came across the pin above and saved it because I thought it was a poor excuse to treat someone you’re supposed to love like crap. If this is the standard protocol for how to cope with a bad day of work its no wonder so many spouses stray and marriages fall apart. The home should be a loving and peaceful environment, where you can vent to each other without turning it against each other, where your spouse doesn’t have to wonder what kind of mood you’ll be in when you arrive, or make excuses to work late so they can avoid your bitchiness. My husband and I have been married for fourteen years, and because we actively work at raising each other up rather than tearing each other down we still prefer each other’s company to anyone else. We’re still happiest when we can be together in one place, wherever that place may be.

The bottom line: Spend your energies applauding your spouse, not slapping them about something they can’t control.
