This was a huge adventure day for Moja and Jazz. It was thier first snow hike ever without thier alpha, Phila. She had a very hard time doing just one mile yesterday so we sent her home this morning with Jess. Out original plan was an easy 5 mile out and back, but we ended up about half a mile short after discovering that one of our brook crossings was unpassable, forcing us to retrace some steps. Moja’s hairy little feet accumulated ice balls in each of them and we stuffed her into our camelbak, which will forever more be called a pupbak. Before out next trip we will be investing in 1) socialization lessons for her so that her eardrum splitting shrieks each time she encounters a new pup or person doesn’t break the serenity of the experience, and 2) a bigger pack so one of us can carry the pup when needed while the other packs the life saving essentials.
