Our first trip in the Winnebago (Down Time II) with the girls was greatly anticipated by all. Jess came home from school on Thursday evening. Kendra’s best friend met Lou and Jess at the house on Friday afternoon, and they drove the RV to pick Kendra up from college. They met up with Ginger, who drove over from Providence after work, at the beach entrance. After watching the short video and the vehicle inspections we released some air from the tires and drove onto the beach to find a camping spot. There were a few campers there ahead of us, but no more than a dozen of all different sizes and styles. What a friendly bunch, too. Half a dozen people came over to great us and ask to see the inside of our apparently impressive unit. The beauty of our new RV is that it takes very little time to set up. We park it, level it, flip a switch to open the slide outs and set up an outdoor area rug and sitting area. Then we eat! Lou made us a feast fit for a marathon runner in training. After dinner we were all ready for an early bed/study time. The parents went to bed while the girls stayed up to do a little studying. The next day Ginger went for a 17 mile run while the girls slept-in. Lou joined her for the first three miles and Kendra for the last. Immediately upon arriving back at the RV she ran right down to the water and had herself an “ice” bath for 15 cold minutes. The rest of the day was spent relaxing, playing games and reading. A storm blew in that night, which kept waking us up since we were so close to the water and could hear the waves crashing onto the shore. On our last morning we went for a short windy walk along the beach before closing up the RV and taking the girls back to their respective schools.
